Backstage News on AEW Surprise Debut

The upcoming AEW surprise debut has been dominating the headlines this week, and now we have an update regarding the backstage thoughts from the AEW locker room.
According to Fightful Select, they have spoken to a number of AEW talent regarding the surprise, all of which are unaware of who the mystery man will be. That said, the unanimous belief around the locker room is that it will be Keith Lee, though this is speculation from the talents themselves.
Fightful have also revealed they have been told pretty firmly that the surprise is NOT Jeff Hardy, who still has a non-compete clause until March 9th, 90 days after his WWE release.
His brother Matt Hardy would say the same thing during his podcast, repeating that he has a 90-day non-compete clause, although, during a Twitch stream, Matt would say the following:
“As far as an update on Jeff and what’s going on, I don’t think he’s the guy that’s coming in this Wednesday against Isiah Kassidy. Although who knows? Tony Khan, Papa Khan’s got a lot of money. Maybe he bought out his contract. And maybe it is happening early. Who knows?”
Whether Matt is being serious or is simply trolling still isn’t clear, due to him sending mixed signals.
