CM Punk vs. MJF Rematch Confirmed

The rematch between MJF and CM Punk has been confirmed.

Following Punk’s tag victory last week where he teamed with Jon Moxley to defeat The Pinnacle’s FTR, he was allowed to choose his own stipulation and location for the match.

Punk would reference MJF’s claims that he is better than “[Roddy] Piper in Portland”, before stating that the two will meet in a dog collar match at AEW Revolution on March 6th in Orlando, Florida.

Piper famously battled Greg Valentine in a dog collar match at Starrcade ’83, with this match seemingly a nod to the bout.

MJF vs CM Punk II is the rematch from two-weeks ago in Punk’s hometown of Chicago. MJF would manage to put Punk away twice in the same night.

First, MJF choked Punk out with tape for the win, before the referee restarted the match when he spotted the foreign object. MJF would then strike Punk with the Dynamite Diamond Ring with an assist from Wardlow, with the referee none-the-wiser.

This will be the second dog collar match in AEW history, with Cody Rhodes and Brodie Lee fighting for the AEW TNT Championship in October 2020, which turned out to be Brodie’s last-ever match.
