WWE Want ‘Major Attraction’ For WrestleMania

We have an update regarding a change of plans for WrestleMania 38.

As we’ve previously discussed, WWE would let Shane McMahon go shortly after his return at the Royal Rumble event due to backstage heat with talent, following his role as producer for the Men’s Rumble match.

Shane had played a significant role behind the scenes at the Royal Rumble show, with him acting as lead writer and producer of the Men’s 30-man match. He was described by a Ringside News source as a ‘nightmare’ for talent.

Shane is also said to have openly buried fellow producer Jamie Noble, whilst trying to “book the Rumble around himself.”

It seems that Shane’s departure has thrown a spanner into the works for the upcoming WrestleMania event, with the company scrambling for a replacement. WrestleVotes would take to Twitter to report:

“Source states the spot Shane McMahon was going to have on the WrestleMania card was to be positioned near the top. Therefore, WWE now needs a new “major attraction” matchup outside of the titles. This goes w/o saying, but the WM card is still in complete flux. It’s quite amazing.”

So far, only two matches have been confirmed for the two-night event, with Women’s Royal Rumble winner Ronda Rousey set to challenge SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, whilst Roman Reigns will defend his Universal title against Men’s Rumble winner Brock Lesnar.

It seems the rest of the card is very much up in the air at this point.
